During World War II This Factory had a fine record producing Wings and Fuselages for Hurricanes and Spitfires On the afternoon of Wednesday September 11th 1940 6 German Bombers flying at a low altitude dropped 16 bombs on this factory, a number of which fell on 'B' Building. In this attack, 52 people were killed and 92 injured. The scars from the attack can still be seen in the steelwork supporting the mezzanine Floor in 'B' Building.

This Roll of Honour is dedicated th the memory of those workers Killed on September 11th 1940 at the Cunliffe Owen Aircraft Ltd. (currently Ford Motor Company) The re-dedication service took place on Sunday 10th Febuary 1991 attended by the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Mrs M. Key, together with relatives and friendds of those killed.
